There was no winner of the Crossmolina Deel-Rovers GAA Club Lotto Jackpot on Saturday night 7th May. The numbers were 2 – 8 – 19 – 27, two punters matched three numbers, Trish McAndrew, Shore Rd, Belmullet and Declan Sweeney, Enaghbeg, Crossmolina and each win €75. The draw took place in Maughan’s. This weeks Jackpot is €16,400. Many thanks for all your support

This county League tie played at sunny Tiernans Park on Sunday was always close and entertaining played at Championship intensity with  end to end stuff right from the off with both sides playing a defensive game with a lot of bodies behind the ball as is the norm at present, Conor Loftus  grabbed two points in the second and eight minutes, from a free and play. Joe Geraghty pulled one back in the 8th minute from play, Paul Duffys 14th minute point from play,  Padraic O’Connor pointed two frees in the 14 and 18th  minutes to tie the score. Kevin Mulhern edged the home side in front in the 22nd minute. Fionan Duffy added one from play minutes later.  which Padraic O’Connor pointed from play. Damien Coleman tied the score again and Sean Kelly pointed a free to leave the score 0 – 6 to 0 – 5 at the break in favour of the Deel-Siders.
Cillian O’connor came on after the break but it was Eoin Varley who opened the scoring after 8 minutes from the restart Crossmolina broke down the field and Brian Benson broke the ball down and toe poked it past the helpless Frank Walsh. Bryan Walsh replied with a point. Sean Kelly  was on target from a free and play in the in the 14th and 24th minutes, sandwiched in between were points from Cillian O’Connor. Peadar Gardiner extended his sides lead to three points in the 25rd minute a Cillian O’Connor free from 35 meter came back off the post and sub Alan Plunkett punished  slack marking with a goal to level the score both sides had chances in the final minutes but the best chance fell to Sean Kelly who escaped his marker but pulled the ball just inches wide.

They say goals wins matches and this was the case in point here in this County League at wet and windy  Tiernans Park on Saturday evening last Crossmolina lead at half time  by a point, five points all scored by Ian Rowland. Davitts Mark Noone grabbed the goals either side of the half and Shane and Mark Trench were the other goal scorers. Niall Timoney scored Crossmolina’s goal and Tommy Walsh pointed to leave the final score 4 – 4 to 1- 6.

Crossmolina and Cill Chomain served up a exciting County U16 D League Semi-final in Glenamoy on Sunday morning of last week. The visitors had the assistance of the breeze in the opening half but did not convert the many chances they created and the hosts lead at break 0 – 6 to 0 -4 Keelan Hegarty with two points and one each from Edward Gough and Robert Murphy were Crossmonlina’s scorers with Jason Murray on target with two points and a goal from Kevin Ruddy put the Cill Chomain boys in to seven points lead going into the last quarter. It was  after only from this junction  that Crossmolina played their best football with a Keelan Hegarty goal and points from Colm Hegarty and Adam Langan to give a life line to The Deel-Siders. Nathan Naughton and Jason Murray extending the lead with two points each Eoin McDonnell cracked home a goal and minuets later Edward Gough Blocked down a clearance that just went over the goal line to tie up the sides. Jason Murray raced 50m to grab the winning point to leave the final score Cill Chomain 1 – 14 Crossmolina 3 – 7

Mayo’s U21 Success
Congratulation to Conor Loftus Fionan Duffy Joe Keane  and David Walsh on their wonderful contribution in Mayo’s fifth all Ireland U21Title on a glorious evening in Cusack Park Ennis. Conor and Fionan were keeping up a very proud record of the Crossmolina Deel-Rovers  club of having a players on each of the previous winning teams 1967 Pat McDonagh RIP, 1974 Michael O’Malley, 1983 John Maughan and John. Joe McLoughlin 2002 Henry McLoughlin 

Astro Turf Pitch
The new Astro turf facility is being used by a few of the Club teams on a trial basis before its official opening. Full details of official opening will be advertised soon.

Active Age Over 55’s
Walking and aerobics for both men and women has resumed on Tuesday’s at 12 noon after the Christmas break in the Crossmolina GAA centre. New members welcome

McHale/Rover Ladys Football
McHale Rovers Ladies Football (which is amalgamation of Ardagh Crossmolina Lahardane Ladies) have starting training for the U8 and U10s Girls  on Tuesday evenings at 6.30pm on the Astroturf.
