U16s loose out in North A Final   16/12/2012

Crossmolina U16 team were defeated in the North Mayo A final by a much stronger Belmullet side on a wet miserable day in Moygownagh. Belmullet dominated for long periods of the opening half but it was the Deel siders who opened the scoring with a Fionan Duffy point in the 5th minute, the same player added another minutes later. James Kelly who had threatened the Crossmolina defence from the start with his piercing run, drove home the first of his sides four first half goals in the 11th minute. Eoin Healy and Gary Boylan added points with the two stunning goals that followed. First Gary Boylan in the 18th minute and four minutes later Eoin Healy added another. Shane Hennigan and Fionan Duffy registered points each before Tony Conroy drilled home his sides fourth goal. Mark Lynn made a couple of good saves to deny at least two more goals. Fionan Duffy pointed to leave the score at the break 4 - 2 to 0 - 5. Crossmolina needed an early score but it was the Belmullet boys that scored with two points from Ryan Ruddy and Gary Boylan. After this score Fonan Duffy scored four points without reply in as many minutes. This was the best spell the Losers had and should have had more scores on the board. Boylan lifted the siege with further points. Fionan Duffy scored a much needed goal from a penalty when Thomas Walsh was fouled and pointed two more frees which Gary Boylan cancelled out with a point. Further points from Sub Ryan Donohoe gave the Belmullet a comfortable seven points win 4 - 9 to 1 - 11, to win the title they last won in 2002 when they also over came Crossmolina .
