Kiltane               1 – 11
Crossmolina       1 - 10
This Mayo Senior League encounter was played on a nice bright sunny evening in Bangor, with a light breeze blowing across the field. Kiltane defended the Ballycroy road end goal in the first half. Michael Gallagher opened the visitors account just after the throw in. Crossmolina midfielder James Cafferty went of injured after three minutes.  A string of points from Mickie Sweeney, Tommy Conroy  and Sean Gaughan gave the home side a four points advantage, which was increased to seven in the 19th minute when Jason Healy waltzed his way past several defenders to crack home a goal. Ciaran McDonald pointed from play and Barry McAndrew who came on for Sean Carey (who received a black card) kicked a point with his first touch of the leather. Declan Keating replied with a point to leave the half time score 1 – 6 to 0 – 3.
Declan Keating and Ciaran McDonald reduced the lead with points each by the fifth minute and four minutes later Brian Benson blasted the ball to the net past the helpless M.J.Reilly.  A Ciaran McDonald special tied the score 1 – 6 each after 11 minutes. Declan Keating and Ciaran McDonald added points before Ultan Corrigan pulled one back from a free in 19th minute. Crosmolina stretched their lead to two points with five minutes remaining. Kiltane pressed hard and levelled the game with two points from frees, before Tommy Conroy scored a fine point from the right jhand side to give his team the win.

Crossmolina’s first game of the 2014 Mayo U14 Championship took them to Davitt Park, Achill on Thursday 12/6/14. On a bright and breezy evening both teams settled to the task well. The home side took advantage of the conditions as the Deelsiders struggled with the cross field wind. While Crossmolina scored first through Daniel Howley, Achill hit back with 1-02 of great quality and put the visitors rearguard under pressure. The defence stood firm, and assisted by some competent fielding by goalkeeper Christopher Walsh held Achil to two further points for the first half. At the other end Crossmolina through Edward Gough and Cian OBoyle, hit two points but also the side netting and several wides. Half time score Achill 1-04 Crossmolina 0-03.

The second half was well contested and end to end football. Crossmolina closed the gap to one point with well taken points by Lorcan Loftus and Eoin McDonnell. While Achill hit a wide at the other end. On their next attack Achill were denied a near certain goal by a brave goalline save by goalkeeper Christopher Walsh. Within two minutes Crossmolina had scored a major at the other end, a fine finish to the net by Conor Caden. Robert Murphy added another point to leave Crossmolina two points to the good. Achill pressed hard and were denied goals by another great save from Walsh and then the post. Anthony Leonard finished to the net for Crossmolina before Colm Hegarty added another goal late on to leave the final score at Achill 1-05 Crossmolina 3-07. A much closer game than the scoreline would suggest.
