Crossmolina                    2 – 8
Garrymore                       1 – 10

Garrymore came to Crossmolina after a good championship  win the previous Sunday and with Crossmolina having suffered a very heavy defeat the question was, could the hosts redeem themselves?. And they did, if not the hard way, Brian Benson and Anthony Cunningham traded points in the opening two minutes. Brian Walsh and Jimmy Killeen tacked on two points in between Ciaran McDonald pointed a free and he tied the score on 15 minutes from play. The crucial score of the half came in the eighteenth minute when Brian Benson was pulled down in the square. Brian took the spot kick and Trevor Nally saved but Brian drove the rebound to the net. Another Jimmy Killeen pointed free was cancelled out by Ciaran McDonald. Minutes later Ciaran kicked another  after good approach work. Michael Gallagher pointed just before the break to leave Crossmolina 1 – 5 to 0 – 5 to the good after playing with the assistance of a stiff breeze.
Jimmy Killeen and Mark Tierney reduced the lead with points each inside 6 minutes of the restart. After soaking up a lot of preassure, one of the best moves of the match involving John Garrett and Colm Reilly, Brendan Birrane set up Kevin Mulhern for vital goal for a four points advantage. Ciaran McDonald and Jimmy Killeen exchanged points. Brendan Birrane pointed after the ball came back off an upright. Jimmy Killeen pointed two frees and McDonald replied with point after some great defending and a couple of good saves by Shane Keane. Mark Tierney dispatched a flowing move to the net for Garrymore to leave just a point separating the sides 6 minutes into injury time and a nail biting finish for the home supporters.

The Scottish lads made the most of the conditions in the second half and gradually reduced the lead. Two quick fire goals in the last five minutes eased them in front. Crossmolina defended valiantly and struggled to create chances for themselves. All in all a fine game of football.

Sat, 28 Jun, Venue Tubbercurry, Rd Quarter Final Div 6 Shield, @ 4pm
Crossmolina       2-01
Aghamore           3-05

This quarter final of the Div 6 Féile shield was a keenly contested affair. The game a much closer affair than the scoreline would suggest. Halfway through the 2nd half only 2 points separated the teams. The Aghamore goalkeeper pulled off a great save from a Keelan Hegarty shot. The play went straight down the other end and Aghamore scored a fortuitous goal from a speculative high ball. The young Deelrovers had a few chances thereafter but had their eye on goals to redeem the game and were not lucky enough to get any. Well done to the Deelrovers on a great performance. Aghamore progressed to win the final in this section.

San Francisco Girls Visit Town
On Wednesday evening of last week San Francisco Girls U14 Team came to Crossmolina to play the local team McHale/ Rovers in a challenge as part of their preparation for Connacht Feile, after a number of games in Bray, Cork and Killarney. As the team came west they were met with very heavy rain the first for close on three weeks in Connacht. When the game started the rain had eased of but the under foot conditions were not what the visitors were used of in a very low scoring first 15 minutes the San Francisco girls lead by one point. They dominated the next fifteen minutes and were still in front 1 – 4 to a sole reply from the McHale/Rovers girls a goal just before the break from Caoimhe Walsh.
In third quarter the visitors tired after all their travels and the home side came more into game and a couple of goals from Emily Murray, Megan Joyce and Linda Kelly saw McHale/Rovers run out winners.
This game was not about winner’s  and loser’s it was a meet and greet as the 52 strong visitors mingled with their hosts. The Crossmolina ‘ladies’ committee served refreshments to all.
One of the Coaches with San Francisco team Mark Burke had local connections  his mother was Ann Loftus from Freeheen, another Kalen Quinn was from Garrafrauns, Dunmore, Co Galway. Presentations were made by both clubs. San Franciscos Mark Burke presented a framed Club Jersey with photo of the team and Eamon Howley Chairman of Crossmolina Club presented a framed crest of both Clubs. The Crossmolina Club wish the San Francisco team all the best of luck in their qualifying games in Mohill, Co Leitrim and hopefully they will make the finals in the Connach Centre of Excellence in Bekan on Sunday.
