Lotto

There was no winner of the Crossmolina GAA Club lotto jackpot on Saturday night 11th July  The numbers were 9  - 14 – 15 – 25 no punter matched three numbers either and six tickets were drawn Declan Gilroy Keenagh, Ben and Pauline Coggins Gortskeddia Crossmolina, Padraic Mulhaire St Marys Park Crossmolina Mary.Jo. O’Malley Killeen Castlehill, Evelyn and Vincent Crowley Moylaw Crossmolina, John and Ann McGuinness Fotish Crossmolina each win €25. The draw took place in Christy’s this weeks jackpot is €9.950. Junior Team Defeated
After a very poor start conceding a goal from the throw in to Justin Healy and a string of points that saw Cill Chomain race into a 1 – 5 lead before Thomas McNulty opened Crossmolina’s account in the 12th minuet and from their to half time the visitors tacked on another 1 – 5 with Thomas McNulty scorer In chief added 1 – 3 Sean Kelly and Shane Keane to go in at the break leading by a point after playing with the aid of the breeze. Things got better in the opening 6 minuets of the second half with three points from Sean Kelly Thomas McNulty and Martin Connor minuets later the home side were level Darragh Murphy pointed and Eoin McGrath gaoled. Martin Geraghty Darragh Murphy and Aarron Healy tacked on  points and Justin Healy streached the lead still further with a goal in the 50th minuet. Thomas McNulty got his side back on the score board Sean Kelly tacked on two McNulty added another brace and Colm McDonnell pointed this shot skimmed the crossbar Cill Chomains Alan Noone Martin Geraghty and Eoin McGrath kept their side a safe distance with points each to leave their side comfortable winners by five points 3 – 14 to 1 – 15 in the end in this county League tie after a few scares when Shane Keane struck the Crossbar the same player drove wide from close range

In a high scoring and exciting County Minor summer league tie at wet and miserable Tiernans Park  on Friday evening Crossmolina defeated Cill Chomain by one point 1 – 14 to 2 – 10. The hosts lead by a point at the break 1 – 7 to 1 – 6 with Jordan Flynn Nigal Caden Tommy Walsh Niall Maughan grabbing the points and Shaun  Caden  the all important goal and a couple of points Darragh Murphy scored four points Justin Healy Cathal Doocy one each Sean Moran raised the green flag after the break Nigal Caden Shaun Caden Niall Maughan and Darren Caden were all the score sheet to put  the Deel-Siders into a commanding lead Joesph Corduff  goal gave his side the boost they badly needed and Darragh Murphy points left only a point separating the sides at the end of a hard fought contest in difficult conditions

Crossmolina U16 Team suffered a five points defeat in the County Championship at Fr O’Hara Charlestown on Sunday morning last. The visitor lead a the break by a point but the greater a all round strength and ability of Charlestown saw them run out 2 – 17 to 2 – 12 winners in the end

Crossmolina U14 team recorded their second win in this years County Championship at a very wet miserable evening on Thursday last against Ardmoy/McHales early points from Daniel Howley Conor Caden Edward Gough and a goal and a point from Conor Caden saw the visitors race into a commanding lead before Conor Finnerty grabbed a goal for the hosts it was nip and tuck for this point on to the break Oisin Carlon Aaran Gallagher and Jack McHugh all added point Adam Langan and Conor Caden kept their side in front at break with points each to leave the half time score     1 – 6 to 1 – 5 The fact that Ardmoy/McHales did not score in the last 30 and Conor Caden Adam Langan and Daniel Howley tacked on another five points to leave the final score 1 – 11 to 1 – 5 in favour of the Dee-Siders boys

Crossmolina U16 team were defeated by a much stronger Carramore/Hollymount side in St Tiernans Park in the County Championship on Tuesday of last week. The visitors lead at the break 3 – 2 to 0 – 6. Phelim Browne was scorer in chief with three goals over the hour. Crossmolina’s main threat came from Ronan Lavelle and Niall Maughan. The final score was 5 – 7 to 1 - 7

Lady’s Final
McHale/Rovers suffered a ten points defeat in the County U14 Division 3A against a very strong Charlestown side in Swinford Amenity Park on Wednesday last after a poor start conceding two goals from Niamh Gallagher and Emma Morley.  Annie Gough replied for McHale/Rovers with a goal and a point, but the winners reeled of a string of points and another goal from Niamh Gallagher. Emily Murray kept her side in the game with 1 – 1 to leave the half time score 3 – 6 to 2 – 2.
Charlestown continued to dominate and were rewarded with a goal from Laoise Harkin and further points from Emily Quinn, Shona Mahon, Niamh Gallagher, Hannah Morrisroe and Laura Loftus McHale/Rovers replied through Annie Gough 1 – 1, Emily Murray and Lisa Lavelle points each to leave the East Mayo Girls convincing winners by 4 – 12 to 3 – 5.

Ardagh emerged deserving winner in this top of the table County Junior Championship tie in Ardagh on Sunday last with sides trading points from Kevin Moran, Brendan Carr and Enda O’Hora, the visitors replied through Thomas McNulty, Dean Loftus, J.P.Mulhern with points each and two from Kieran Traynor to give Crossmolina a two points  advantage after 16 minutes. Enda O’Hora pointed in the 23rd minutes and minutes later Stephen Rochford grabbed a crucial goal for Ardagh. Colm McDonnell and Thomas McNulty traded points with Barry Molloy and Stephen Rochford to leave the winners two points up at the break 1 – 6 to 0- 7.
James Carr Mayo Minor panellist came of the bench to grab a goal and two points inside ten minutes. Kieran Traynor pulled two points back before J.P Mulhern raised a green flag for the Deel-Siders. Nigel Caden added two points, Enda O’Hora, Brendan Carr, Barry Molloy and Stephen Rochford made sure of victory with a string of points in the last quarter final score Ardagh 2 – 12 Crossmolina 1 – 11.

After a closely contested first half in which Crossmolina lead the visitors Knockmore at half time by two points 1 – 7 to 1 – 5, the goal coming from Fionan Duffy after a pass from Jordan Flynn in the 11th minute. Further  points from Fionan Duffy, three, Kevin Mulhern a 45, Brian Benson, Gabriel Walsh, Sean Kelly.
After the break Knockmore were level after seven minutes with points from Keith Ruttledge and Colm Reape who terrorized the Deel-siders Defence scoring 3 – 3 of his sides total. Francis O’Neill came up from wing back to get a fourth goal before the finish Fionan Duffy and Brian Benson were the point scorers for the Deel-Siders after a very disappointing fourth quarter in which the winners completely dominated

Work continuing on Astro turf playing facility;
Work has commenced on the construction of the Astro turf playing facility. The contractors are erecting the fencing and putting up lighting columns this week. You will see a great change in the coming weeks. Please obey all construction signs and safety notices during the construction phase.
