Crossmolina suffered a three point’s defeat away to Breaffy on Saturday evening played in ideal conditions, two points from  Peadar Gardiner and Ciaran McDonald in the opening ten minutes were cancelled out when Gareth Dunne poked the ball to the net from a goal mouth scramble. Brian Bensons point tied the score, Ciaran McDonald and Sean Kelly tacked on points before Rory Martin Grabbed his sides second goal and points from Tommy Reilly the outstanding Conor O’Shea, Gareth Dunne and Robert Fadden left the half time score 2 – 5 to 0 – 6.
Rory Martin and Tommy Reilly increased the lead with points before sub Fionan Duffy kicked two points to kick start the Deel-Siders revival. Ciaran McDonald and Brian Benson raised white flags  before Conor O’Shea replied with a point. Gareth Dunne danced his way past a couple defenders and drove low to the corner of the net despite Colm Reilly getting a hand to ball. Fionan Duffy kicked a further three points, Sean Kelly two, and one each from Kevin Mulhern. Robbie Hennelly pointed a long range free and Conor O’Shea also got on the score board again. Brian Benson drove over the bar in crowded goal mouth to leave the final score Breaffy 3 – 11 to Crossmolina 0 – 17. Crossmolina did shoot fourteen wides over the hour but each time the visitors threatened Breaffy responded with those killer goals.

A much sharper stronger Ballina Team scored a 2 – 9 to 1 – 8 win over Crossmolina in the county Minor Championship at St Tiernans Park on Friday of last week.  After bright opening with point from Nigel Caden and a goal from Shaun Caden,  Simon Leonard pointed and Daniel Molloy grabbed a goal in the 9th minute for Ballina. Nigel Caden and James Kilkenny exchanged points before Luke Doherty scored his side’s second goal. A missed penalty in the 20th minute from Nigel Caden after a defender picked the ball off the ground in the small square,  would prove costly. Jordan Flynn and Ronan Lavelle reduced the lead to two points at the break 2 – 3 to 1 – 4.
Niall Maughan and Gary Hopkins with two points gave the home side a point advantage which they held until the fifteenth minute when Simon Leonard pointed and should have been greater when a lot of good possession was wasted. James Kilkenny James Doherty Stephen Sheridan and Conor McStay all added points with Crossmolina’s only reply a point from Nigel Caden which left the final score Ballina 2 – 9 Crossmolina 1 – 8

Congratulations and Well Done to our U8 Boys
Saturday 16th of August our DeelRovers U8 Boys headed to the Stephenites Park in Ballina to participate in their annual U8 Blitz. We were able to field two teams who had the opportunity to play against Ardnaree, Ballina, Bonniconlon and Knockmore.  Some great football was displayed by all teams throughout the morning.  Both of our DeelRovers teams made it to the finals with one team playing Ballina and the other playing Ardnaree. There were some nail biting moments throughout the finals.  It was a relief to hear the final whistle blow. It was our day as Crossmolina came home with both the Cup and the Shield. As the boys would say themselves they were “EPIC” It was a very enjoyable day with a display of football that was unreal from lads of such a young age.
Thanks to the Stephenites Ballina and to all our loyal supporters.
